An extremely fine late eighteenth or early nineteenth century French 18 carat vari-coloured gold sealing wax case or etui, with cast and chased applied detail in yellow and green gold, the matrix with full period French coat of arms.

Subsequently struck with French eagle’s head hallmark, indicating a minimum fineness of 18ct gold. This mark was used exclusively in Paris from 1839 to 1919 and thereafter throughout all of France.
