A William IV English provincial silver snuff box, the panels inset with tortoiseshell to the top, and mother-of-pearl to the base, the hinged cover with an applied plaque, engraved 'Edward Rawlinson', with gilt interior, and fully hallmarked to the flange.

 

By Wilkinson & Company, Sheffield 1836.

 

Note: To encounter a nineteenth-century fully hallmarked English provincial silver snuff box, in addition to the combination of tortoiseshell and mother-of-pearl is unusual.

 

Length: 6.9cm.

 

Condition: Excellent antique condition. Free from any repairs. Hallmarks clear, and well struck.
